Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Commerce met with the Uzbek Ambassador to discuss strategies for deepening economic engagement between the two countries. The leaders focused on measures to boost bilateral trade, encourage investment, and improve customs operations to facilitate cross-border commerce.
They agreed to diversify trade baskets by identifying new export and import sectors and exploring joint ventures in areas like textiles, agriculture, information technology, and pharmaceuticals. Both sides emphasized modernizing logistics and transit routes to reduce delays and cut down trade costs.
To build investor confidence, discussions included organizing industrial forums and business delegations, as well as launching a Pakistan–Uzbekistan trade and investment council to maintain momentum and track implementation. Shared initiatives to harmonize regulatory standards, introduce digital documentation, and adopt e-customs were also on the agenda.
This engagement aims to revitalize economic relations, expand export bases, and strengthen regional trade in line with Pakistan’s broader strategy to ramp up trade with neighbouring countries.
