Turkish Consul General Durmus Bastug visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation. During his visit, discussions focused on expanding collaboration in textiles, technology, tourism, agriculture, and regular business delegations.

Durmus highlighted the confidence of Turkish companies already operating in Pakistan and stressed the need to launch more joint ventures with Pakistani partners. He emphasized deep historical and cultural bonds between the two countries and assured full support for boosting business-to-business relations.

LCCI Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry commended Pakistan’s strong ties with Turkey, describing the relationship as rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and support across diplomatic and economic fronts. He noted that although current trade totals around $828 million, with exports at $337 million and imports at $491 million, there is significant potential to grow this to $5 billion by leveraging the Trade in Goods Agreement signed in May 2023.

Chaudhry identified promising sectors for expansion, including food processing, pharmaceuticals, energy, tourism, sports goods, and notably, information technology. He invited the Turkish Consulate in Lahore to serve as a key facilitator, helping connect Turkish investors with Pakistan’s vibrant business community—especially in Lahore, Punjab’s economic heart.

The Lahore Chamber pledged to lead efforts by organizing trade delegations, international exhibitions, and Pakistan–Turkey business forums. They remain committed to driving deeper economic engagement and unlocking the full potential of this strategic partnership.
