The fifth meeting of Pakistan’s NEV (New Energy Vehicle) Policy 2025–2030 Steering Committee was held under the leadership of SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan to assess the country’s electric mobility strategy. Representatives from key ministries, the SBP, FBR, CDA, and the PM’s Office participated in a comprehensive review of policy implementation.
Discussions focused on the rollout of the first phase of EV subsidies, including financial incentives for electric two- and three-wheelers. A technical briefing evaluated battery performance and climate adaptability, addressing Pakistan’s diverse weather conditions.
The committee emphasized the importance of provincial coordination and maintaining consistent implementation nationwide. Environmental goals were central to the policy framework, with international benchmarks chosen to measure greenhouse gas reductions and explore opportunities for carbon credit earnings.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision, the policy aims to reduce fuel dependency, cut transport emissions, and build a resilient green transport ecosystem. The committee reaffirmed its strong commitment to developing nationwide EV infrastructure before 2030, including charging networks and regulatory support to drive sustainable, technology-led progress.
