Pakistan’s IT Sector Maintains Strong Growth Despite Monthly Dip
Pakistan’s IT industry continues to shine on the global stage, with exports reaching $2.61 billion during the first seven months of FY26. This marks a robust increase of $431 million compared to the same period last year, underscoring the sector’s resilience and rising global demand.
The growth has been fueled by software development, freelancing, and digital solutions, with Pakistani professionals serving clients across diverse international markets. Cost competitiveness and skilled talent remain key drivers, helping the country secure a stronger foothold in the global IT ecosystem.
However, the monthly trend revealed a slight slowdown. Export receipts dipped to $374 million in January, down from $437 million in December 2025. While this decline raised concerns about momentum, industry experts believe the overall trajectory remains positive.
Former PASHA Chairman Mohammad Zohaib Khan highlighted that emerging Gulf markets, particularly Saudi Arabia, could play a pivotal role in sustaining growth. He also emphasized Pakistan’s increasing focus on high-value sectors such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, which could further enhance competitiveness.
Despite the impressive gains, the sector is expected to fall short of its ambitious $5 billion export target for FY26. Still, the consistent double-digit growth reflects a promising future, with expanding partnerships and rising demand offering new opportunities for Pakistan’s IT industry.
This performance demonstrates how Pakistan’s digital economy is evolving rapidly, positioning the country as a growing hub for technology and innovation.
