President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation under medical supervision at a private hospital in Karachi. His personal physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, confirmed the diagnosis and stated that the president is receiving care from infectious disease specialists. All meetings with President Zardari have been prohibited to ensure his health and safety.
The president was transferred from Nawabshah to Karachi after experiencing health issues, including respiratory discomfort and fever. Multiple tests were conducted to assess his condition, leading to the COVID-19 diagnosis.
This is the second time President Zardari has contracted COVID-19; he previously tested positive in July 2022 but experienced only mild symptoms at that time. In recent years, he has faced various health challenges, including a foot fracture in October 2024 and eye surgery in March 2023.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq have both inquired about President Zardari’s health and extended their wishes for his swift recovery. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has refuted reports suggesting that the president would be moved to Dubai for treatment, stating that his condition is improving and he is expected to recover fully.
The medical team continues to monitor President Zardari’s health closely, providing round-the-clock care to manage his condition effectively.
