Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Finance Ministry for delivering an exceptional 42% increase in tax revenue, a landmark achievement attributed to robust digitization, Point of Sale (POS) expansion, and rigorous enforcement strategies.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that modern data-driven systems and widespread POS integration in retail outlets played a pivotal role in capturing previously untaxed transactions and reducing revenue leakages. He also appreciated FBR’s respectful and professional treatment of taxpayers, reinforcing the importance of dignified public service.
By combining aggressive digitization efforts, compliance incentives, and targeted anti-evasion measures, Pakistan’s fiscal authorities have significantly bolstered the national revenue base. Sheikh Sharif highlighted that this achievement will support ongoing economic reforms, empower social welfare programs, and enhance public service delivery.
The Prime Minister has urged continued momentum, urging all compliance systems to be digitized, further enforcement of the POS rollout, and ensuring sustained revenue collection to fund the country’s development priorities.
