Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Iran following recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. In a telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the premier strongly condemned what he described as violations of international law and IAEA safeguards, emphasizing Pakistan’s steadfast political and diplomatic backing.
During the conversation, both leaders agreed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable solutions to prevent further regional escalation. Sharif expressed condolences for civilian casualties and prayed for the recovery of the injured. He also expressed Pakistan’s readiness to take a constructive role in de-escalation efforts.
The reaffirmed solidarity came alongside Pakistan’s support for Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. President Pezeshkian conveyed gratitude for Pakistan’s stance and encouraged broader unity within the Muslim Ummah during this pivotal moment.
