Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in achieving Pakistan’s fiscal year 2025–26 economic and revenue targets. Chairing a high-level meeting, he underscored the government’s firm commitment to accountability and transparency to deliver on its economic promises.
He praised recent strong revenue performance, highlighting a significant increase in tax collections driven by digitization, improved enforcement, and the successful rollout of Point of Sale (POS) systems in the retail sector. The government credits these measures with reducing tax evasion and broadening the tax base.
To maintain this momentum, PM Shehbaz ordered:
- Nationwide expansion of the Track & Trace System across more industries
- Mandatory digitization for non-compliant businesses
- Accelerated rollout of POS systems to ensure complete documentation of retail sales
- Strengthened coordination among government departments to remove reform obstacles
He stressed the importance of taxpayer-friendly policies, while warning that any complacency would directly undermine the country’s economic recovery and stability. The government is committed to delivering disciplined fiscal management, encouraging investment, and driving sustainable economic growth.
By enforcing strict oversight and pushing modern reforms, the Prime Minister aims to strengthen Pakistan’s economy, improve service delivery, and ensure a prosperous future for its citizens.
