Pakistan’s Defence Minister Issues Strong Warning to Kabul
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has made it clear that Islamabad will not hesitate to strike again inside Afghanistan if Kabul fails to guarantee peace. Speaking in an interview with France 24, Asif stressed that Pakistan’s patience is wearing thin amid rising militant attacks.
He accused Kabul of “non-seriousness” in dealing with terrorism, claiming that militant outfits operating from Afghan soil are acting with tacit approval from Afghan authorities. Asif further alleged that India and Kabul are “on the same page” in waging a proxy war against Pakistan.
The warning comes after a devastating suicide bombing in Islamabad, which officials linked to groups based in Afghanistan. Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s military action remains on the table until Kabul provides credible assurances of peace and takes decisive steps against militant sanctuaries.
In separate remarks, he highlighted that terrorism in Pakistan is a direct consequence of Kabul’s failure to act, adding that war with India also remains “a possibility” given the regional instability.
This latest statement underscores the fragile state of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and the growing risk of escalation if diplomatic efforts fail to deliver concrete results.
