In a groundbreaking step toward smart policing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s first “Police Station on Wheels” in Islamabad, aiming to enhance accessibility, safety, and digital policing services for citizens, especially women and senior citizens.

The mobile police unit was launched under the vision of the Prime Minister and the directives of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. The inauguration ceremony was held at Safe City Islamabad, attended by senior ministers and law enforcement officials.

According to Inspector General Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, this mobile police station will operate across Islamabad, enabling citizens to register FIRs from any jurisdiction without needing to visit a traditional police station.

“This initiative is designed to directly address the concerns of working women, housewives, and elderly citizens, offering police services at their doorstep,” said the IG.

During its two-month test phase, the mobile unit resolved complaints from over 7,000 individuals. Notably, on July 22, 2025, the first FIR filed by a woman through this unit marked a milestone in accessible policing.

The mobile police unit is led by a female Sub-Inspector, supported by male and female responders, and accompanied by a motorcycle response team for quick emergency access.

Features of the Mobile Police Station:

  • 12 integrated software systems for digital services
  • Real-time connection with Pakistan’s national criminal record database
  • AI-powered ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)
  • Surveillance cameras linked with Safe City Islamabad
  • Vehicle tracking and automated identification systems

Additionally, this mobile station provides services from the Police Khidmat Markaz and Traffic Police, such as:

  • Digital FIR registration
  • Character certificate issuance
  • Police verification
  • Domestic worker & tenant registration
  • Learner’s license and license renewal applications

This revolutionary project is a part of broader efforts to digitize policing, improve citizen trust, and make law enforcement more inclusive and responsive.
