Pakistani consumers should brace for potential adjustments in fuel prices as the government reviews petroleum rates for the upcoming month. Starting March 1, 2025, petrol prices may increase by Rs4 per liter, while high-speed diesel (HSD) and kerosene prices could drop by Rs1 per liter.
These anticipated changes are attributed to fluctuations in global oil markets and the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee. Even though crude oil prices have witnessed a 3% decline internationally, local fuel rates remain under pressure due to exchange rate volatility and taxation policies.
As of now, ex-depot petrol is priced at Rs256.13 per liter, while HSD stands at Rs263.95 per liter. The final decision on price adjustments will be announced by the Ministry of Finance following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Consumers are advised to stay updated as any shift in fuel prices will impact transportation costs, inflation rates, and overall economic activity in the country.
