During a tense session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior in Islamabad, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Nabeel Gabol staged a dramatic walkout in protest against the conduct of State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry and the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The committee meeting turned stormy as Gabol strongly objected to what he called the “harsh and inappropriate tone” used by the two government representatives. He criticized their behavior, claiming it reflected arrogance stemming from the government’s two-thirds majority.
“The tone used by the Minister and CDA Chairman towards a PPP member is extremely bitter,” Gabol asserted. “It seems the overwhelming majority you received as a blessing has made you arrogant. Let me remind you, we’ve toppled governments before—and we can do it again.”
Addressing the CDA Chairman directly, Gabol also warned, “Let me remind you that you also serve as the Chief Commissioner—watch your tone.”
Despite attempts by the committee chairman and fellow members to defuse the situation, Gabol left the meeting in protest and officially recorded his grievance. The incident not only disrupted the session but also underscored the growing tension in Pakistan’s parliamentary environment.
The episode highlights the fragile nature of inter-party relations and raises concerns about the tone and decorum within legislative proceedings.
