The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, has announced that the network responsible for the attacks on Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak and Bannu Cantt has been identified.

During a media briefing in Peshawar, IGP Hameed stated that significant evidence has been gathered in relation to both incidents. He also mentioned that several suspects have been taken into custody regarding the terrorist attacks.

He further stated that additional details will be provided once more arrests are made.

A suicide bombing at Darul Uloom Haqqania resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, which included Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq (JUI-S) leader Maulana Hamid ul Haq.

In a separate incident, security forces neutralized 16 terrorists during an attack on Bannu Cantonment, while also mourning the loss of five security personnel.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on March 5 that security forces successfully repelled a terrorist assault on Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eliminating all 16 militants who attempted to infiltrate the facility on March 4.

According to the military’s media wing, five brave soldiers displayed heroic resistance but ultimately gave their lives in the line of duty during the intense exchange of fire.

The clash resulted in the deaths of thirteen civilians and injuries to 32 others due to the devastation caused by suicide explosions.

The ISPR stated that on March 4, 2025, a cowardly terrorist attack was carried out by Khwarij elements on Bannu Cantonment. The assailants tried to compromise the cantonment’s security; however, their malicious intentions were quickly and decisively thwarted by the vigilant and resolute response of Pakistan’s security forces.

Additionally, a high-ranking official from Darul Uloom Haqqania was among the eight fatalities, and at least 18 others were wounded in a suicide blast targeting the historic seminary’s mosque in Nowshera on February 28.

The explosion occurred in the front row shortly after Friday prayers as worshippers were departing the congregation at the Darul Uloom Haqqania mosque in Akora Khattak, approximately 60 kilometers (35 miles) east of Peshawar.

KP IGP Hameed had stated that Maulana Hamid, the son of Maulana Sami-ul-Haq Haqqani, was the intended target of the attack.
