Defence Minister Khawaja Asif used the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr to call for national unity and a renewed remembrance of the country’s martyrs. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by those who died defending Pakistan form the bedrock of its national security. Asif urged the nation to stand with the families of the fallen, acknowledging their profound and ongoing contributions to the nation’s safety.

The minister also highlighted the current struggles faced by the Muslim Ummah, pointing to the difficult situations in Palestine, Sudan, and Kashmir. He stressed that divisions within the Islamic world only serve to weaken it, making collective action more challenging. Asif specifically noted that confronting external threats requires a united front rather than isolated efforts.

Turning to domestic security, Khawaja Asif reported progress in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across Pakistan. He stated that these efforts are crucial and must persist until all threats to the nation are completely eradicated. The minister indicated that vigilance remains paramount as the country continues its fight against extremism.

During his Eid message, the Defence Minister also raised concerns about terrorist activities originating from within Pakistan. He alleged that these elements are receiving support from the Afghan government, necessitating increased scrutiny and robust border management. Asif underscored that securing the nation depends on unwavering unity and decisive action against threats along both the eastern and western frontiers.
