Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a stern warning: initiating a conflict with a nuclear-armed power would be “sheer stupidity” with devastating consequences. He emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is fully secure and invincible, and any aggression would pose dire risks.
In an exclusive interview, Chaudhry accused India of state-backed terrorism, claiming it supports groups like “Fitna al-Khawarij,” referring to internal insurgents, and “Fitna al-Hindustan,” alleged terrorists targeting Balochistan. He pointed to recent attacks, including a bomb blast in Waziristan that killed 16 soldiers, as evidence of this destabilization campaign.
He clarified that the term “Fitna al-Khawarij” applies to extremist militants who attack Pakistani security forces. At the same time, “Fitna al-Hindustan” denotes groups allegedly supported by Indian state interests aiming to destabilize Pakistan’s security landscape.
Regarding the country’s nuclear safeguards, Chaudhry affirmed that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power, dismissing any fears that it could become a target. He stressed that no state’s drop against a declared nuclear nation has succeeded historically, calling any such attempt both absurd and unimaginable.
On wider geopolitical fronts, the DG ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled support for Iran, citing international law and shared religious bonds, while asserting there is no military concern about potential regional spillover from the Iran–Israel dispute.
