Bushra Bibi, the spouse of Imran Khan, underwent a medical examination at Adiala Jail on Saturday after reporting pain and vision problems in her right eye.
Jail sources confirmed that she was examined by Dr Muhammad Arif Khan, head of the ophthalmology department at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. The examination revealed that Bushra Bibi had been experiencing blurred vision, black spots, flashes, and frequent headaches for 11 days. Following the diagnosis, doctors also found myopia and astigmatism in her eyes.
According to medical sources, doctors diagnosed Bushra Bibi with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), a condition where the gel-like substance at the back of the eye starts to detach from its normal position. She was prescribed eye drops, medication, and corrective glasses to manage her condition. She is advised to return for a follow-up check-up after four weeks.
Imran Khan’s health issues have been a concern for his supporters and critics alike. Earlier this year, he also underwent a minor eye procedure at PIMS. Doctors conducted another brief procedure after obtaining his consent, which has raised questions about his health status. The situation surrounding Imran Khan’s health remains uncertain.
Bushra Bibi is set to receive treatment for her eyesight issues and return to jail. Her health will be closely monitored in the coming weeks as she recovers from her condition. The situation highlights the challenges faced by prisoners with medical conditions in Pakistan’s correctional facilities.
