Karachi Braces for Hot and Humid Weather with Potential Heatwave
Karachi residents should anticipate hot and humid conditions for the next day, accompanied by the chance of strong, intermittent winds. This comes amid forecasts of a significant heatwave affecting the nation over the next several days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD indicated that the city is likely to experience consistently hot and humid weather. Minimal relief is expected in the coming days, aside from occasional strong winds.
The meteorological office projected that daytime highs would range from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded this morning was 28.2°C.
The relative humidity in Karachi is currently quite high at 78%, with sea breezes blowing at 16 km/h. The PMD also pointed out the presence of high atmospheric pressure over the city.
The Met Department further stated that Balochistan is currently facing a severe heatwave expected to last until June 12.
While Quetta and adjacent areas have clear and dry conditions, the province’s northern regions are also experiencing dry weather. The southern and central parts of Balochistan are enduring very warm conditions.
The PMD reports that temperatures throughout Balochistan are presently 4°C to 6°C above average for this time of year.
On Saturday, Sibi recorded a scorching temperature of 49°C, Turbat reached 41°C, and Nokkundi saw 43°C.
Farther south, upper and central Sindh are also preparing for a significant heatwave. The PMD has cautioned that temperatures in these areas will probably be 3°C to 5°C higher than normal from today until June 12.
Residents in the affected regions are encouraged to take necessary steps to stay hydrated and limit prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
