Rana Acknowledges Embassy’s Cricket Support, Lauds Baker’s Role

ISLAMABAD: Lahore Qalandars’ owner Atif Rana visited the US Embassy in Islamabad to meet Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker as part of the trophy tour celebrating their recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) victory.

The visit fostered goodwill between Qalandars representatives and the US Embassy’s cricket enthusiasts.

During the gathering, Rana presented Baker with a signed Qalandars jersey as a symbol of appreciation. They shared their enthusiasm for cricket and discussed its increasing global influence.

Baker, who attended two Qalandars matches this season, including the final, commended the team’s spirit and victory.

Baker’s Remarks

“Watching cricket live has been an incredible experience. The immense fan base and lively atmosphere at Gaddafi Stadium were amazing.

“As an American familiar with baseball, the similarities and passion that cricket evokes are intriguing. With both sports included in the Olympics, I anticipate even stronger global connections.

I sincerely appreciate the Lahore Qalandars for their hospitality and making me feel like part of their family,” Baker stated.

Rana expressed gratitude for the embassy’s involvement with cricket and thanked Baker for her support.

Rana’s Response

“It’s wonderful to see cricket sparking conversations at the US Embassy and the enthusiasm of our American friends. We deeply appreciate Baker’s attendance at our matches. She will always be part of the Qalandars family,” he remarked.

Following their PSL victory, Qalandars are using the trophy tour to engage with fans and promote cricket’s growth, both locally and internationally.

Qalandars have become a successful PSL franchise, securing three titles in the past four years.

They remain the only team to have won consecutive championships, achieving this in 2022 and 2023.
