SBP Authorizes Nationwide Microfinance Banking License for Halan Microfinance Bank

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially issued a nationwide microfinance banking license to “Halan Microfinance Bank Limited,” effective from June 03, 2025.

This microfinance bank was recently procured by MNT-Halan, a prominent Egyptian fintech firm with an international footprint. MNT-Halan delivers business and consumer financing, digital payment solutions, and e-commerce services to underserved and unbanked populations.

In February, Halan Microfinance Bank had already committed a $10 million investment for 2025, aimed at a significant expansion throughout Pakistan, thereby strengthening its position within the nation’s financial industry.

MNT–Halan, recognized as Egypt’s largest microfinance entity, previously acquired Advans Pakistan Microfinance Bank Limited in March of the previous year.

Subsequent to the acquisition, the bank underwent a rebranding process and now operates under the name Halan Microfinance Bank Limited.
