TikToker Found Dead in Islamabad Home

A female TikTok personality, Sana Yousaf, was reportedly killed in her residence located in Islamabad’s G-13-1 sector, within the jurisdiction of the Sumbal police. Her body was transported to PIMS Hospital for an autopsy.

According to law enforcement sources, the incident unfolded while most of the victim’s family members were away from the home, except for her aunt. The suspect, who allegedly arrived to meet Yousaf, reportedly discharged two gunshots, resulting in her death.

Yousaf resided with her father, a government employee, her mother, a homemaker, and her 15-year-old brother, who is currently visiting their hometown of Chitral following the completion of his school exams. Yousaf, who had amassed 740,000 followers on TikTok and recently celebrated her 17th birthday, was at home with her aunt, who had been staying with her for several days.

The event occurred at 5 p.m. on Monday. The father was out for work, and the mother had gone to a nearby market. The family occupied the upper level of the house, where Yousaf was allegedly killed by a young male. Early investigations suggest that Yousaf and the suspect knew each other.

According to Yousaf’s aunt, who was present at the time of the event, the TikToker engaged in a conversation with the suspect before she was murdered. The aunt informed the police that she overheard her niece saying, “Leave from here. There are cameras everywhere. I will get you some water,” before the suspect shot her in the chest twice.

Yousaf’s mother has filed a legal case against the suspect under Section 302 of the PPC (punishment for intentional murder). In addition, a first information report (FIR) has been registered by the mother. According to the FIR, the mother stated that she can identify the perpetrator if she sees him.

This incident is not the first instance of a social media figure being murdered, with a noticeable increase in such cases recently. For instance, a female TikToker in Khushab, Punjab, was recently killed by her cousin. Similarly, this past February, another female TikToker was discovered deceased in her Peshawar home. In January, a father in Quetta killed his US-born teen daughter for posting videos on TikTok. Law enforcement reported the family disapproved of her dressing, lifestyle, and social activities.

The family had resided in the US for 25 years, and the young girl began creating TikTok content prior to their relocation back to Pakistan. Furthermore, a similar event took place last year in Sialkot, where a brother killed his sister over TikTok videos.

While the relevant authorities are actively investigating the events surrounding Yousaf’s murder, no arrests have been made thus far. Additional details are anticipated as the police probe advances and the forensic report becomes available.
