Haris Achieves Match-Winning Century with Unbeaten 107 Runs off 46 Balls
LAHORE: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja lauded wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris on Monday for his exceptional century in the final T20I against Bangladesh. Raja also provided guidance for Haris to further refine his batting skills.
Haris propelled Pakistan to victory by scoring an undefeated 107 runs from just 46 deliveries, which included seven sixes and eight fours. His performance earned him the title of both player of the match and player of the series.
In his analysis on his YouTube channel, Raja described Haris’s century as a remarkable feat.
He noted that Haris displayed impressive energy and made excellent shot selections, maintaining composure throughout his rapid innings.
Ramiz said
“Haris’s sixes, boundaries, bat speed, and overall energy were outstanding. His ability to maintain composure despite an impressive strike rate exceeding 200 allowed him to bat for an extended period.”
The former PCB chairman also identified areas in Haris’s game that need improvement, suggesting these could present challenges in the future. He offered advice to the wicketkeeper-batsman on how to enhance his batting technique.
“Haris may encounter setbacks due to his tendency to play ramp shots and improvise frequently. I recommend he focuses on developing his shots straight down the ground, which requires further refinement,” Raja advised.
Raja emphasized that improving his down-the-ground shots would make Haris’s batting less risky. He suggested that Haris is an ideal choice for the number three batting position.
Ramiz added
“The more time Haris spends at the crease, the better he will understand the nuances of batting. I initially considered playing him at number three a significant risk, but he has proven his capabilities by emerging as the series’ top performer.”
On a lighter note, Raja mentioned that Haris’s quiet demeanor behind the wickets is beneficial.
Ramiz concluded
“His quietness behind the stumps is a welcome aspect for commentators, offering peace of mind, and he is undoubtedly a valuable player.”
