Hamilton Reflects on ‘Terrible’ Spanish Grand Prix Performance

BARCELONA: Following a sixth-place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton described the race as his ‘worst’ and ‘terrible’.

Oscar Piastri emerged victorious, leading a McLaren one-two finish with teammate Lando Norris. This win further solidified Piastri’s position at the top of the championship standings.

Hamilton briefly advanced to fourth position early in the race but subsequently relinquished his spot to his teammate Charles Leclerca and Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg.

The seven-time world champion currently holds sixth place in the F1 championship, trailing leader Piastri by 115 points, with Piastri holding the top spot with 186 points.

Expressing his disappointment after the race, Hamilton stated, “That was the worst race I’ve experienced, balance wise,” and added, “[I had no rear grip] pretty much the whole race. I have no idea why it was so bad.” When questioned about any positives from the race, he simply responded, “Zero.”

Despite Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, he has yet to secure a podium finish this season. However, Ferrari is currently second in the standings, behind McLaren.

Acknowledging his team’s efforts, Hamilton commented, “Just not a great day. Strategy was good. Team did a great job. Just that’s it,”

He further added, “I’ve had a really bad day and have nothing to say. It was a difficult day. There’s nothing else to add to it. It was terrible. There’s no point explaining it. It’s not your fault. I just don’t know what to say.”
