Petrol Price Increased, HSD Rate Remains Constant

Effective June 1, 2025, the price of petrol will rise by Rs 1.00 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs 253.63. The Finance Division made this announcement on Saturday. Conversely, the rate for high-speed diesel (HSD) will remain unchanged at Rs 254.64 per litre for the upcoming two weeks.

Details of the Price Adjustment

According to a recent statement from the Finance Division, this adjustment is based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and other relevant governmental entities. The ex-refinery price of petrol has seen an uptick, moving from Rs 151.80 to Rs 154.55 per litre. To cushion the impact on consumers, the government has significantly lowered the Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM) from Rs 6.30 to Rs 4.55 per litre.

Petroleum Levy Unchanged

The petroleum levy (PL) on both petrol, set at Rs 78.02 per litre, and HSD, at Rs 77 per litre, will not be altered. Furthermore, the price of kerosene oil has experienced a marginal increase, shifting from Rs 250.14 to Rs 251.13 per litre.
