Pakistani Athletes Laud Arshad Nadeem’s Gold Medal Victory
KARACHI: Celebrated Pakistani sports figures, including former cricket team captain Azhar Ali, have commended javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for his gold medal triumph at the Asian Athletics Championship in South Korea on Saturday.
Nadeem, the current Olympic gold medalist in javelin, demonstrated his skill at the recent continental championship, surpassing seven competitors, including fellow Pakistani Yasir Sultan, in the final to secure another gold medal.
Throughout the final round, Nadeem delivered an exceptional performance, consistently holding the top spot.
With a remarkable throw of 85.57 meters in his third attempt, Arshad took the lead in the competition.
He maintained his momentum with an 83.99-meter throw in his fourth attempt and remained the frontrunner after five rounds.
In a stunning final attempt, Arshad achieved his best throw of the day, reaching 86.40 meters, solidifying his lead and ultimately clinching the gold medal.
His outstanding performance was celebrated by prominent national sports figures, who hailed the victory as a moment of national pride and praised the athlete’s dedication.

Former tennis player and current Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Aisam-ul-Haq also extended his congratulations to Nadeem and the nation on this historic achievement.
“Congratulations Pakistan. Congratulations Arshad Nadeem,” Haq posted on X.
“Arshad Nadeem you beauty. You rocked once again by winning the gold medal [at the Asian Athletics Championship]. Long Live Pakistan.”
National cricketers Junaid Khan, Shadab Khan, and Hasan Ali also turned to social media to celebrate Nadeem’s significant achievement and recognized his efforts.
