Funeral Held for Slain Official in Quetta
On Saturday, funeral prayers were conducted in Quetta for Hidayatullah Buledi, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), who died in a terrorist attack at his residence in Surab, Balochistan.
Government representative Shahid Rind stated that ADC Buledi was critically injured during an armed clash with militants at his home on Friday. His family was present during the incident.
A significant number of people, including Commissioner Naseerabad Moeenur Rehman, deputy commissioners, and various other officers, attended the service.
Following the prayers, a formal salute was given to the deceased officer by a Levies contingent. His remains were transported from Surab to Quetta via helicopter.
Reportedly, a large group of attackers looted and set fire to a local bank and at least six government facilities, which included official residences. The Surab police station and the Levies post were also torched, and four law enforcement vehicles were destroyed in the assault.
Shahid Rind claimed, “This assault was executed by proxies with backing from a foreign country,” adding that security forces had arrived in the area to start a clearance operation.
He asserted, “The state will counter all such schemes and maintain its authority.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act of terrorism aimed at innocent people, government officers, and public properties.
In a statement, the Prime Minister lauded the bravery of ADC Hidayatullah Buledi, saying his sacrifice represents courage and resilience.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased officer and wished them strength and patience.
The Prime Minister remarked, “The terrorists intentionally targeted defenseless citizens, including women and children,” and noted that these actions indicate a deep-seated animosity towards the people and advancement of Balochistan.
Reiterating the government’s resolve to fight terrorism, the Prime Minister pledged that the battle would continue until such elements are eradicated.
He underscored that the armed forces are working relentlessly to dismantle terror groups operating under foreign support.
Furthermore, he instructed officials to quickly identify and bring the offenders to justice, ensuring they are fully prosecuted under the law.
