Faheem Ashraf Reflects on Islamabad United Tenure After PSL Transition

LAHORE: Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who recently played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, has spoken about his move from Islamabad United to his new team.

In the 60th episode of the PCB podcast, Ashraf shared his thoughts on his long-standing connection and dedication to Islamabad United, expressing the emotional attachment he still feels for the franchise.

“I believe Islamabad United is unique in the PSL. Although Quetta is valuable in its own right, I still consider Islamabad the best. “

“I spent seven years there. Even now, being with Quetta, I often visit the Islamabad United guys whenever we stay at the same hotel,” he added.

Ashraf was a member of Islamabad United from 2018 to 2024, playing 74 matches, taking 78 wickets, and scoring 803 runs.

The right-arm medium pacer also mentioned his preferred formats as a fast-bowling all-rounder.

“I prefer T20Is and Tests. ODIs are challenging due to the extensive bowling, fielding, and waiting time to bat,” he explained.

Ashraf, whose last T20I match for Pakistan was in 2023 against New Zealand, discussed his aspirations upon rejoining the national team after a two-year absence.

“My goal is to give my best, as I did for my franchise. Playing for Pakistan is a priority, and I aim to contribute beyond my capabilities. If we have Pakistan, we have everything.” he concluded.

The 31-year-old has participated in 48 T20I matches, securing 36 wickets with an economy rate of 7.65 and scoring 311 runs with a strike rate of 129.04.

Ashraf is included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled in Lahore from May 28 to June 1.
