Mike Hesson Confirms Two-Year Coaching Contract with Pakistan

LAHORE: Mike Hesson, the newly appointed head coach for Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, has publicly stated the length of his contract with the national side, ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh.

During a press briefing, Hesson specified that his commitment extends for a duration slightly exceeding two years.

He highlighted that his tenure includes involvement in two major ICC tournaments, encompassing both the T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup.

“My role as the white-ball coach is for a term of two years, actually a bit longer, which includes the two World Cups. These are exciting times, with the T20 World Cup and the One-Day World Cup on the horizon. We recognize the need to initiate change immediately and I am eager to begin,” Hesson remarked.

The 50-year-old also mentioned his participation in the selection of the squad for the Bangladesh series, affirming his active contribution to team decisions.

“Indeed, I am part of the selection process. I contributed to forming a larger squad, from which the coach and captain finalized the 15 players. I am significantly involved in this process,” he added.

The former New Zealand cricketer’s appointment as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach occurred on May 13, 2025. His first assignment will be the T20I series against Bangladesh.

The three-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 28, May 30, and June 1.
