Amir Credits Team Unity for Gladiators’ PSL Hopes
Lahore: Fast bowler Mohammad Amir voiced his optimism for a Quetta Gladiators victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, emphasizing the team’s cohesive performance throughout the season.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore following a Gladiators practice, Amir conveyed his strong belief that the team would clinch the final, riding on their current momentum.
Amir pointed out that in previous seasons, the Gladiators had underperformed, often missing the qualifying rounds. However, he noted a significant improvement this year, expressing confidence in their chances of winning the final.
“Over the past few seasons, we’ve been working to create a strong team dynamic for the Quetta Gladiators. Last season, we didn’t even reach the qualifiers. But this year, there’s a feeling of optimism, and the team is in excellent form. Crucially, each player is fulfilling their designated role,” he stated.
Amir highlighted the Gladiators’ unified approach this season, suggesting that maintaining this spirit and solidarity in the final would greatly enhance their chances of success.
“When you perform together as a unit, team morale gets a significant boost,” he observed. “My hope is that if we approach the final with the same mindset we’ve had throughout this PSL, we will undoubtedly emerge victorious.”
Amir acknowledged the inherent pressure of a final match, irrespective of external opinions. He described the final as a unique experience, where every player aims to deliver their best after competing throughout the tournament.
“The atmosphere of a final is unique. Anyone who claims there’s no pressure is mistaken. You dedicate the entire tournament to reaching and winning this moment. There’s very little margin for error in this game, as it’s the last one, so your mental focus must be absolute,” he concluded.
