Dodgers Secure Victory Over Athletics with Kim’s Milestone Home Run
LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Dodgers demonstrated a team effort, clinching a 9-3 triumph against the Athletics in a Major League Baseball (MLB) game at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night.
Shohei Ohtani initiated the scoring with a 403-foot home run in the game’s first inning. Andy Page followed up with a 417-foot homer in the second, putting the Dodgers ahead 2-0.
The Athletics responded in the third inning when Tyler Soderstrom’s two-run homer, his tenth of the season, evened the score.
This was the fifth home run conceded by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, whose ERA was previously at 1.80. Miguel Andujar’s RBI double to left then gave the Athletics a 3-2 advantage.
Yamamoto pitched six innings, allowing three runs and four hits while recording six strikeouts.
Hyeseong Kim’s home run in the fifth inning tied the game at 3-3. This marked the first home run of his MLB career, clearing the wall in right-center during his first home start.
Gunnar Hoglund (1-1) of the Athletics surrendered four runs and seven hits, with five strikeouts, over five and one-third innings.
In the sixth inning, Miguel Rojas pinch-hitting for Kim, delivered a crucial two-out RBI double to right-center, driving in Michael Conforto from first base and putting the Dodgers ahead 4-3.
The Dodgers extended their lead with five runs in the eighth inning. Mookie Betts doubled against Tyler Ferguson, bringing in two runs, followed by Max Muncy’s three-run homer.
Osvaldo Bido is scheduled to start the series finale for the Athletics on Thursday, while the Dodgers are expected to utilize multiple relief pitchers.
