Shakib Al Hasan Expected to Join Lahore Qalandars in PSL 10
Former Bangladesh captain and celebrated all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is anticipated to make a return to competitive cricket by potentially joining Lahore Qalandars for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Sources from Bangladeshi media indicate that a senior Lahore Qalandars representative has acknowledged the franchise’s interest in securing Shakib’s participation, though a definitive agreement is still pending.
The official stated, “We are interested in acquiring him, but nothing has been finalized yet. We will announce updates regarding our international players once confirmations are complete.”
Shakib has previously participated in the PSL, representing Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings.
Notably, the Bangladeshi all-rounder, who also briefly held a legislative position in his home country, has remained outside Bangladesh following the change in government the previous year.
The former prime minister, known for her authoritarian governance, was removed from power following widespread student protests and subsequently sought refuge in India. At the time, Shakib was engaged in a domestic T20 tournament held in Canada.
A highly experienced player, the left-arm spinner has played for Bangladesh in 71 Test matches, 247 ODIs, and 129 T20Is, securing an impressive total of 712 wickets across all formats.
His most recent competitive appearance was in November of the previous year for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
PSL 10, which experienced a temporary suspension recently due to increased cross-border tensions, is scheduled to resume on May 17.
Karachi Kings are set to face Peshawar Zalmi at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the initial match following the resumption.
Rawalpindi will host three matches, including a double-header on Sunday, May 18.
The schedule for that day includes a clash between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans in the afternoon, followed by an evening match between Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars.
The concluding game at the venue will feature Islamabad United, the current champions, against Karachi Kings on May 19.
The tournament will then move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where the critical final stages of the competition will take place.
The Qualifier and Eliminator rounds are scheduled for May 21, 22, and 23, with the final match planned for May 25.
