Tragic Accident in Lahore Claims Multiple Lives

A devastating incident occurred in Baghbanpura on Wednesday when a speeding dumper truck, reportedly experiencing brake failure, crashed into several rickshaws and motorcycles, resulting in at least five fatalities.

The collision involved three rickshaws and two motorcycles, and additionally left four individuals injured. According to rescue officials, the event unfolded near Aakhri Minute Stop in Lahore.

Authorities have identified some of the deceased as two young girls named Aima and Hafza, a rickshaw driver, and a motorcycle operator. The identity of one victim remains unknown.

The deceased have been transported to Shalimaar Hospital, where the injured are also receiving medical attention.

Reports indicate that the private dumper truck, contracted by the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), was transporting waste from Shadmaan to Baghbanpura for disposal.

The truck was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and veered onto a route with oncoming rickshaws and motorcycles, leading to the deadly crash.

The driver of the dumper, identified as Azeem, fled the scene following the incident. Law enforcement and rescue teams are on-site managing the situation and working to clear the roadway.

There has been an increase in traffic-related incidents in various cities throughout Pakistan. Many of these incidents involve heavy vehicles like dumper trucks and loaders.

Earlier on Tuesday, data indicated that approximately 110 individuals in Karachi have died in the last 132 days due to accidents involving large vehicles.
