David Warner Confirms Participation in Remaining PSL Matches
Former Australian cricket icon David Warner, currently captaining Karachi Kings, has affirmed his involvement in the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) games.
Media outlets in Australia indicate that Warner is confident about the league’s continuation and intends to return to Pakistan to fulfill his obligations to the competition.
Another Australian cricketer, Ben McDermott, also intends to journey back to Pakistan to participate in the PSL’s continuation, according to reports.
The PSL experienced a temporary suspension due to escalating tensions and an incident near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Consequently, several international players departed Pakistan, casting doubt on the tournament’s completion.
Initially, relocating the remaining games to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was considered because of security concerns.
However, following a ceasefire agreement and subsequent directives, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to continue the tournament domestically.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, formally revealed the updated schedule for the remainder of PSL 10 on Tuesday.
Naqvi stated on his X account that the league will resume on May 17 and conclude with the final on May 25.
This decision comes after discussions between the PCB and franchise representatives to guarantee the secure and efficient conclusion of the league’s remaining eight fixtures.
Warner, a high-value acquisition in the PSL draft, has had a challenging debut season.
Across eight games, the left-handed batsman has accumulated 164 runs at an average of 20.50, while maintaining a strike rate of 150.45.
The Karachi Kings are currently positioned second in the PSL 10 standings with 10 points, having secured victory in five of their eight matches.
