Islamabad, May 2025 — Over 5,900 motorists faced legal action during the past week as Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) intensified its crackdown on traffic violations across the capital.
The enforcement drive, launched on the special directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (Retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, aims to improve road safety, prevent accidents, and maintain traffic flow through strict, non-discriminatory application of the law.
As part of the campaign, action was taken against:
- 635 vehicles with non-standard number plates
- 560 motorcyclists riding without helmets
- 1,969 individuals for illegal parking
- 604 violations of wrong-way driving
- 1,036 instances of traffic signal violations
- 253 drivers for not wearing seatbelts
- 94 drivers for using mobile phones while driving
In addition to issuing challans, police impounded 676 vehicles and motorcycles involved in serious violations at various police stations.
CTO Islamabad Syed Zeeshan Haider urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic police by observing road safety rules and respecting traffic laws. “We are committed to providing safe and convenient travel for all residents and ensuring equal application of the law. These efforts are critical to preventing road accidents and protecting lives,” he stated.
The Islamabad Traffic Police reaffirmed its resolve to continue such operations, emphasizing public awareness and consistent enforcement as key tools in creating a disciplined traffic system in the capital.
