Finance Minister Aurangzeb Embarks on London Visit for Key Meetings
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb traveled to London on Tuesday for a series of meetings with UK government representatives and prominent business figures.
The Finance Division released a statement indicating that the minister’s three-day trip will involve presentations at various investment forums and seminars, aiming to deliver a “clear picture of Pakistan’s economic outlook”.
The statement noted that Aurangzeb is scheduled to participate in an investment roundtable called “Pakistan Access Day,” which is being organized by Jefferies. He is also slated to join a roundtable discussion with UK tech investors focusing on AI, mining, and the healthcare sector.
Muhammad Ali, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Investment, will be present alongside Aurangzeb at both of these sessions, according to the statement.
Meetings and Engagements
During his time in London, the finance minister intends to visit His Majesty’s Treasury Department for discussions with the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Lord Livermore, along with other high-ranking officials.
He will also be visiting the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to confer with the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Leo Docherty, in addition to other senior officials.
Furthermore, Aurangzeb plans to visit the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) to engage in meetings with its Chair, Richard Hughes, and his team.
A visit to the headquarters of the Bank of England is also planned, where he will meet with Governor Andrew Bailey and his staff.
Moreover, discussions with the leadership of Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered Bank are part of his itinerary.
Additionally, the finance minister is scheduled to meet with Simon Baugh, who serves as the Chief Executive of the UK Government Communication Service, and his team. He will also hold meetings with Marcus Hall, the Head of Cargill Global Trading UK, and representatives from British American Tobacco.
