Poulsen’s Late Goal Holds Bayern to a Draw, Title Celebration Delayed

LEIPZIG: A late goal from RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen resulted in a 3-3 draw against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday. This result delays Bayern’s celebrations for the title, at least for another day.

The match saw Bayern initially trailing 2-0 at halftime. However, they then scored twice in quick succession to equalize, and later took the lead in the 83rd minute.

Poulsen’s late strike left Bayern with 76 points, a nine-point lead over Leverkusen. Leverkusen will play against Freiburg on Sunday.

Bayern needs Leverkusen to lose in order to secure their 34th league title with two matches remaining. They also have a significantly better goal difference than Leverkusen.

The draw keeps Leipzig, positioned fifth with 50 points, in contention for a top-four finish. A top-four finish would secure a spot in the next Champions League season.

Bayern faced early pressure from the home side, disrupting their expected triumphant afternoon. RB Leipzig created two significant opportunities before Benjamin Sesko scored in the 11th minute.

Harry Kane, Bundesliga’s leading scorer, watched the match from the sidelines due to suspension. His absence left the visitors lacking potency in attack.

Leipzig extended their advantage six minutes before halftime. Lukas Klostermann headed in a free kick from David Raum, doubling Leipzig’s lead.

Bayern responded after the break. Eric Dier headed in a corner from Michael Olise, and Olise then scored the equalizer a minute later.

Leroy Sane’s goal, seven minutes from time, seemed to secure the title. Kane moved to the sideline, ready to celebrate with his teammates.

Poulsen, however, disrupted the celebrations by chipping the ball over Urbig for the equalizer. Bayern will have another chance to win the title next week at home against Borussia Moenchengladbach.
