Verstappen Welcomes Daughter, Joins Elite F1 Dad Club
Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen and his partner Kelly Piquet are celebrating the arrival of their first child, a daughter named Lily.
The happy announcement was shared by the Red Bull driver’s representatives on Friday morning.
“Wonderful news! Lily has arrived,” the statement declared. “The proud parents, along with Penelope, are thrilled to welcome her. Lily is healthy, and both Kelly and the baby are doing great.”
Verstappen also posted a touching message on social media, accompanying it with a photo of him and Piquet cradling their newborn.
“Welcome to the world, sweet Lily. Our hearts are more full than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you so much,” Verstappen expressed.
Earlier, Red Bull Racing had announced that Verstappen would be unavailable for media engagements leading up to the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, citing the anticipated birth of his child.
This is the couple’s first child as a couple. Piquet already has a daughter, Penelope, from a previous relationship with former Red Bull F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. Verstappen is known to have a close relationship with Penelope.
Verstappen previously commented on becoming a father, stating:
“I’ve experienced it to some extent already, so it’s not entirely new. Now it’s a part of my life. But I feel confident. I know the baby will be well taken care of. For me, it’s about focusing on racing and then returning to my family.”
Verstappen now joins a select group as one of only two current Formula 1 drivers who are fathers.
