Pakistan and China Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Stability Amid Tensions

Amidst ongoing tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi following the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

This development occurred as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar engaged in a phone conversation with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during which he provided a briefing on the current regional situation.

The two high-ranking diplomats also emphasized the importance of promoting mutual respect and understanding, while expressing opposition to unilateral actions and policies of hegemony.

In addition to China, Pakistan has engaged with friendly nations including Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Egypt to inform them about the situation resulting from the deadly incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists.

Without presenting any substantiating evidence, New Delhi has connected Islamabad to the incident and implemented a series of punitive actions to reduce diplomatic relations, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the revocation of visas for Pakistanis, and the closure of the Wagah-Attari border crossing, among other measures.

Pakistan has reciprocated India’s measures and cautioned about suspending the Simla Agreement, in addition to closing its airspace to Indian flights.

Islamabad has refuted involvement in the incident and has offered to participate in a reliable and transparent investigation.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office (FO) today, Islamabad and Beijing have agreed to sustain close communication and coordination at all levels to advance their shared goals of peace, security, and sustainable development within the region and beyond.

The Deputy Prime Minister firmly rejected India’s unilateral and unlawful actions, as well as its unfounded allegations against Pakistan, the statement added.

The FO stated that Dar expressed profound appreciation for China’s consistent and unwavering support, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong dedication to the ironclad Pakistan-China friendship and the shared vision of an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

He also underscored Pakistan’s resolve to further enhance bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
