Oil Tanker Explosion in Noshki Claims Life, Injures Dozens

A devastating incident in Balochistan’s Noshki district resulted in the death of an oil tanker driver and left over 40 individuals with burn injuries. The tragedy occurred on Monday when the tanker exploded after catching fire, according to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amjad Hussain.

DC Hussain stated that 26 of those critically injured were transported to Quetta via air ambulance, a service arranged by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti.

Initial reports from law enforcement indicate that the oil truck, laden with fuel and parked at a depot in Noshki, ignited during welding operations. In an effort to mitigate potential widespread damage, the driver bravely steered the burning vehicle away from the terminal and into an open area.

Regrettably, the driver succumbed to severe burns at the scene.

The tanker, engulfed in flames, subsequently exploded, causing injuries to more than 40 people. Among the injured were a DSP and three police officers who were present to manage the evacuation of civilians from the vicinity.

A fire engine also sustained damage during the explosion.

A provincial government representative stated that preliminary information suggests over 30 individuals suffered burn injuries in the Noshki incident.

The spokesperson further noted that the intense fire inflicted damage on a fire brigade vehicle and that hospitals in Quetta were placed on high alert to accommodate the injured. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the precise cause of the fire; authorities have described the event as a significant tragedy.
