Korea, Pakistan Explore Industrial Collaboration at Karachi Event
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Karachi, in conjunction with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan, Karachi Office, successfully organized the Korea Pakistan Industrial Collaboration 2025 event on Tuesday at a distinguished local venue.
The event provided a vibrant arena to encourage industrial partnership, investigate novel business prospects, and reinforce the economic alliance between Korea and Pakistan.
The gathering convened significant figures from both nations, including government representatives, industry frontrunners, business administrators, and specialists from diverse fields. The main purpose was to pinpoint and advance cooperation in essential industries demonstrating substantial growth possibilities, such as the automotive industry, medical technology, and information technology.
The official program commenced with an inaugural speech by Yi Sung-ho, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Karachi, who underlined the significance of enhancing bilateral relations and promoting industrial collaboration between Korea and Pakistan. Yi Sung-ho voiced his conviction in the capacity of both countries to broaden their bilateral trade and investment endeavors, notably in Automobile Engineering, Medical Equipment & IT Sector.
Following the initial address, Farooq Afzal, Founding President of Diplomatic Forum International and Member of the Karachi Council on Foreign Relations, gave his welcome address. Afzal emphasized the considerable scope for Korean and Pakistani industries to work together and capitalize on their respective advantages for shared economic advancement and prosperity. He asserted that this partnership is crucial for unlocking fresh prospects, stimulating innovation, and forging a mutually beneficial environment for both nations.
Presentations Highlight Collaboration Opportunities
A focal point of the event was the sequence of informative presentations, which highlighted particular avenues for partnership in sectors experiencing rapid expansion.
- Aasif Hussein, General Manager Localization at Pak Suzuki, shared the company’s outlook for the automotive sector’s future in Pakistan, with a concentration on localization approaches. The presentation accentuated the possibility for Korean automotive firms to join forces with Pak Suzuki in building the local automotive supply network and strengthening technological proficiencies.
- Dr Tasmia Abeer Billo, Member Executive Committee of the Health & Development Association of Pakistan (HDAP), delivered a synopsis of Pakistan’s swiftly burgeoning medical device industry and emphasized the substantial prospects for tactical alliance with Korean counterparts. The presentation highlighted the potential for collaborative initiatives, technology exchange, and investment in this vital domain.
- Dr Dabeer Khan, Director of Foreign Aid Projects, Government of Sindh, presented the exciting opportunities available for Korean companies at the IT Park in Karachi. He reiterated the government’s dedication to nurturing the IT sector and encouraged Korean IT enterprises to invest in and cooperate with Pakistani tech companies.
Min Joon Ho, Director General of KOTRA Karachi, acknowledged the lively participation and constructive interaction from both Korean and Pakistani participants, highlighting the considerable scope for future partnership. He reaffirmed KOTRA’s steadfast commitment to enabling business alliances and assisting companies from both countries in leveraging the opportunities identified during the event.
Attendees communicated substantial optimism regarding the trajectory of Korea-Pakistan industrial collaboration and committed to collaborate in transforming the concepts and connections presented at the event into concrete business achievements. KOTRA Karachi and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Pakistan, Karachi Office, restated their pledge to underpin and facilitate these collaborations.
