Nadeem Khan Confirms Multan Sultans Accepted PSL Rescheduling Options
LAHORE: Nadeem Khan, director of Multan Sultans, stated on Monday that the franchise is in agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision regarding the rescheduling of 10 matches in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.
The PCB had announced on Sunday that it would be altering the schedule for two PSL 10 games, citing reasons related to operational logistics and the recent heatwave conditions experienced in certain regions of the country.
Consequently, the afternoon match in the May 1 double-header, initially set to feature Multan Sultans versus Karachi Kings at the Multan Cricket Stadium, has been relocated to the Gaddafi Stadium.
Furthermore, the final match of the Multan leg, pitting the Multan Sultans against the Quetta Gladiators, has also been rescheduled and will now be held on the evening of May 11.
In response to these changes, Nadeem acknowledged that the franchise was consulted before the matches were rescheduled.
He mentioned that while the venue change for the afternoon match on May 1 would lead to financial repercussions for the franchise, they would continue to support the PCB’s determination.
“We were consulted about shifting the match. We received three options, all of which we accepted,” Nadeem stated to the media on Monday.
He added, “This decision will result in a financial setback for us, and fans will miss out on cricket in Multan, but we support the PCB’s choice.”
In contrast to the PCB’s stated rationale for rescheduling the matches, Nadeem Khan suggested that the decision was made because Karachi Kings were encountering difficulties due to a congested upcoming schedule.
“Karachi Kings were facing some challenges due to a packed schedule, which led to this decision. Despite the incurred loss, we are aligned with the PCB’s decision,” Nadeem clarified.
The Sultans, consistent participants in every PSL final since their championship victory in 2021, are presently underperforming in the ongoing PSL 10, positioned at the bottom of the table with only two points from six games.
Addressing the team’s subpar performance, Nadeem noted that their international platinum players have not performed up to expectations.
