Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has voiced his concerns over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) not consulting his party regarding crucial negotiations. Speaking in Karachi, he emphasized that national issues should be addressed through broad-based consensus, ensuring that all political stakeholders are involved in the decision-making process.

Rehman highlighted the recent legislative advancements regarding madrasas (religious schools), pointing out that parliament has already enacted laws for their registration. Furthermore, a presidential ordinance has been introduced to offer additional support for madrasa registration. He stated that JUI-F does not have objections to these reforms, stressing that they are in line with the overall national interests.

In his remarks, Rehman also referred to his personal meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. He clarified that it was a private, informal interaction where discussions took place on various matters, including steps taken by the government to regulate some madrasas.

The JUI-F leader spoke respectfully about his relationship with other political figures, including Khalid Maqbool, who visited his home to understand key political acts. Rehman humorously mentioned that while Maqbool holds the position of Education Minister, he is still learning from him in personal discussions.

Rehman also took the opportunity to criticize some political figures for compromising democratic values and constitutional principles, arguing that they are more focused on securing power than serving the nation. He called for transparency regarding Pakistan’s economic situation and stressed the need to improve the country’s overall system.

Rehman concluded by reaffirming that resolving the nation’s issues requires a collective approach, with all political parties playing a key role in ensuring long-term stability and growth
