Pakistan Ready for Impartial Probe into Pahalgam Incident: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Saturday that Pakistan is prepared to engage in any impartial, transparent, and reliable investigation concerning the Pahalgam firing incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Addressing attendees at a passing-out parade held at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, PM Shehbaz criticized India for propagating unfounded allegations and perpetuating a consistent “pattern of exploitation, issuing baseless claims and untrue accusations without a legitimate inquiry or verifiable proof.”

“The recent unfortunate event in Pahalgam exemplifies this ongoing blame game, which must cease immediately.

“In line with its role as a responsible nation, Pakistan is willing to participate in any unbiased, transparent, and credible investigation,” the Prime Minister affirmed.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of Kashmir, quoting the Founder of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who aptly stated that Kashmir constitutes the jugular vein of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister asserted: “Let there be no uncertainty, Pakistan will persist in its support for the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri populace until they secure their entitlements through their significant struggle and sacrifices.”

His statement follows India’s declaration to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty in the wake of the attack in IIOJK.

Since the assault, relations have deteriorated to their lowest point in recent years, with India accusing Pakistan of backing “cross-border terrorism” after militants perpetrated the most severe attack on civilians in the contested Muslim-majority IIOJK in a quarter-century.

Additionally, the Senate unanimously adopted a resolution on Friday, stipulating that any misadventure initiated by India will encounter a resolute, swift, and decisive reaction.

The resolution was put forth by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

The resolution affirmed that Pakistan remains entirely capable and prepared to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any form of aggression, including water terrorism or military provocation.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump commented that India and Pakistan would resolve their relationship independently.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump referenced the historical conflict in the disputed border region and noted his familiarity with both countries’ leaders, though he refrained from answering whether he would contact them.

“They’ll sort it out one way or another,” he stated during his flight. “There’s considerable tension between Pakistan and India, as has always been the case.”
