US Consul General Visits Hyderabad to Bolster Ties
Consul General of the United States, Scott Urbom, recently concluded an official trip to Hyderabad, where he engaged with government representatives, young leaders, academic figures, members of the business sector, and alumni from various U.S. public diplomacy programs. This was revealed in an official announcement made on Tuesday.
The primary aim of the visit was to reinforce the robust and enduring interpersonal connections and enhance economic cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.
Engagement with Alumni Network
During his time in Jamshoro, Consul General Urbom participated in the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) reunion, where he had the opportunity to meet with experienced alumni. The gathering highlighted the significant influence of U.S. exchange initiatives and celebrated alumni-driven projects focused on advancing economic progress, enhancing public safety, and fostering youth involvement.

Urbom remarked, “The alumni in Jamshoro are actively transforming their visions into tangible realities. They are using U.S. government grants to initiate technology programs, enhance safety measures, and implement community-level solutions that uplift local populations.”
English Access Scholarship Program
Consul General Urbom also attended the closing ceremony for the English Access Scholarship Program held at Government College University Hyderabad.
This comprehensive two-year initiative provided 75 students with essential English language skills, promoted critical thinking abilities, and cultivated cross-cultural awareness. Urbom stated, “Through these educational investments, the United States aims to foster long-term stability and overall prosperity.”
Discussions with Business Community
In a meeting with the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Consul General engaged in discussions about the region’s agricultural and business environment. He also investigated potential opportunities for American trade and investment to further strengthen economic bonds between the two nations.
Sports Diplomacy
Consul General Urbom expressed his appreciation for the chance to interact with students at the Lincoln Corner Hyderabad, located in the Shamsul Ulema Daudpota Library, during a sports diplomacy presentation that highlighted baseball and cricket.
