Jamie Vardy to Leave Leicester City After 13 Years

Jamie Vardy is preparing to depart Leicester City at the conclusion of the current season, thus concluding a distinguished 13-year career with the club.

The 38-year-old striker, who initially joined Leicester from Fleetwood Town in 2012, leaves a remarkable record of 198 goals scored in 498 appearances across all competitions.

Vardy played a pivotal role in Leicester’s historic 2015–16 Premier League title victory, contributing 24 goals during that unforgettable campaign. He also was vital in the club’s FA Cup success in 2021.

In an emotional video shared by Leicester City, Vardy conveyed both his gratitude and sadness regarding his impending departure.

Vardy’s Sentiments

“To the supporters of Leicester, I am truly disappointed that this moment has arrived, although I always knew it would eventually,” Vardy stated.

“I’ve enjoyed 13 incredible years at this club, filled with numerous triumphs and some setbacks, but predominantly marked by significant achievements. Now, the time has come to conclude this chapter, which deeply saddens me, yet I believe the timing is appropriate. Leicester will forever hold a special place in my heart.”

Vardy also reflected on the present season, describing it as “a complete disappointment,” and extended his apologies to the fans.

Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha acknowledged Vardy’s immense contribution to the club.

“Jamie is truly one of a kind. He is an exceptional player and an even more remarkable individual,” Srivaddhanaprabha commented.

“He is cherished by everyone associated with Leicester City, and he undoubtedly has my utmost respect and affection.”

Vardy’s exit signifies the end of an era for Leicester City, but his monumental impact will continue to resonate for years to come.
