Islamabad United Secure Kyle Mayers for PSL 10

Islamabad United has enlisted West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers to substitute Rassie van der Dussen of South Africa and Matthew Short of Australia for the duration of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

The franchise has officially stated that van der Dussen has opted out of the competition due to personal matters. Furthermore, Short’s unavailability necessitated the recruitment of an international player.

Mayers is expected to join the team in Lahore before United’s sixth game of the season.

Mike Hesson, the head coach for Islamabad United, conveyed his support for van der Dussen during this challenging period.

Hesson’s Statement

“We completely support Rassie and his family. He is facing a difficult time, and cricket takes a secondary role in these circumstances,” Hesson stated.

Addressing the decision to bring in Mayers, Hesson expressed confidence in the West Indian player’s capabilities.

Mayers’ Capabilities

“We have been playing strong cricket thus far, but we are ensuring every aspect is covered. Mayers has demonstrated his skills in T20 matches, and his comprehensive abilities will enhance the balance and strength of our team,” he added.

Rehan Ul Haq, the team manager for Islamabad United, echoed similar positive sentiments.

United is scheduled to play their fifth match against Multan Sultans on Wednesday at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
