Shaheen Afridi Highlights Positives Despite Lahore Qalandars’ Defeat

Following their 33-run loss to Multan Sultans at Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Shah Afridi identified the team’s bowling performance as a key positive takeaway. This marks the two-time champions’ second defeat in four games.

The Qalandars’ bowling attack, usually a formidable force, allowed the Sultans to score 228/5. Rishad Hossain of Bangladesh was a notable performer, securing two wickets for 45 runs in his four overs. Shaheen, Asif Afridi, and Sikandar Raza each took one wicket.

However, Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, the team’s pacers, had a tough outing, conceding 54 runs in three overs and 22 runs in a single over, respectively.

Shaheen commented on his team’s bowling, acknowledging the pitch’s difficulty for bowlers.

Comments from Shaheen Afridi:
  • “In truth, the wicket presented challenges for the bowlers. However, the younger players showed promise, which is a significant positive for us.”
  • “We wanted to assess Mitchell’s suitability for this surface and provide opportunities for all players. Rishad Hossain has been performing well, and we anticipate that the pitches ahead will further complement his bowling style.”

Shaheen Shah Afridi voiced confidence in his team’s ability to rebound, noting the tournament’s early stage.

Looking Ahead:
  • “The tournament is still in its initial phase, and we are confident in our capacity to recover strongly,” Shaheen stated.

Currently, Lahore Qalandars hold the third position with four points from four matches. Their next match is against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, who are currently fifth in the PSL 10 standings.
