Hasan Ali Aims for National Comeback After Stellar PSL Performances
KARACHI: Karachi Kings’ vice-captain, Hasan Ali, recently discussed his improved form, the significance of domestic and franchise cricket in his career, and his future ambitions, notably a potential return to the national squad.
In a candid discussion, Hasan emphasized his dedication to delivering strong performances and fulfilling leadership roles with the Karachi Kings, all while keeping an eye on rejoining the national team.
“My responsibility is to perform well. I aspire to represent Pakistan once again, not just to be part of the team, but to actively contribute to victories. My goal is to emerge as the tournament’s leading bowler, but more importantly, I am focused on helping the Karachi Kings secure the trophy,” Hasan stated.
“Individual objectives are important, but the team’s triumph takes precedence. If there is a belief that I can guide in the future, I would gladly embrace that role,” he added.
The 30-year-old also conveyed his satisfaction with his recent displays, attributing his resurgence to diligent efforts at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
“I am very pleased with my own performance. I dedicated myself at the NCA to address areas in my bowling that needed improvement. I implemented technical adjustments and fine-tuned certain aspects, which are now producing positive results — initially in the National T20 and presently in the Pakistan Super League (PSL),” he mentioned.
He underlined his tenacity during challenging periods and the crucial part that domestic cricket played in facilitating his return to form.
“Even after being dropped, I went back to domestic cricket, delivered strong performances, and regained my position. That’s the established route — performance serves as the sole pathway back.”
The right-arm fast bowler also reflected on his developmental journey, acknowledging the impact of the PSL and domestic competitions.
“My base was established in domestic cricket, but the PSL refined my abilities. From being selected as an emerging player to ultimately winning the final — that journey was unforgettable,” he reflected.
“The PSL provided us with opportunities to share dressing rooms alongside international stars, but domestic cricket holds equal importance. It offers a setting where you can truly hone your skills,” he further commented.
As a seasoned competitor, Hasan recognized the changes in his perspective over the years.
“As time passes, individuals evolve. Half of my career is behind me, and as a senior player, I must conduct myself appropriately. There is a time for enjoyment, but there is also a time to fulfill duties. The learning process is continuous,” he concluded.
Notably, the right-arm pacer has showcased outstanding bowling prowess in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 for Karachi Kings and currently holds the position of second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
He has claimed 10 wickets in four matches with an average of 12.70 and an economy rate of 7.93.
Hasan also leads as the highest wicket-taker in the league’s history with 118 wickets in 86 matches, surpassing former Peshawar Zalmi pacer Wahab Riaz, who secured 113 wickets in 88 matches.
