Islamabad United Clinches Fourth Successive Win Against Karachi Kings
Islamabad United, the current title holders, showcased their dominance by securing a convincing six-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in the tenth match of PSL 10, held at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, the Karachi Kings struggled to post a competitive total, managing only 128/7 in their 20 overs. The United’s disciplined bowling prevented any significant partnerships from forming.
Tim Seifert scored a laborious 30 runs off 37 balls, emerging as the top scorer for the Kings. Abbas Afridi provided a late surge with a brisk 24 runs from just nine deliveries.
In reply, Islamabad United smoothly chased down the target, losing only four wickets and with 17 balls remaining.
Captain Shadab Khan led the charge with a well-compiled 47 off 40 balls. Azam Khan provided valuable support, contributing 31 runs from 30 balls.
This victory marks the three-time champions’ fourth consecutive win, solidifying their top position on the points table with eight points from four matches and a substantial net run rate of 2.544.
Karachi Kings, after this defeat, now hold the third spot with four points from four games. Their net run rate has taken a hit, falling to -0.343.
Lahore Qalandars are currently in second place with four points from three matches and a net run rate of 2.051.
Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi follow, occupying the next two positions with two points each from three matches. Quetta Gladiators possess a slightly better net run rate.
Multan Sultans, the 2021 champions and last year’s runners-up, are at the bottom of the table, having lost all three of their matches so far.
