DENVER: In a gripping encounter at Ball Arena on Sunday, the Denver Nuggets rallied to secure a 112-110 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first game of their NBA playoff series. Russell Westbrook delivered a strong performance in the crucial moments for Denver.

The Clippers initially took control, establishing a 15-point advantage during the first half. However, the Nuggets demonstrated resilience, reducing the deficit to 53-49 by halftime.

Nikola Jokic spearheaded the Nuggets’ offense with 29 points, narrowly missing a triple-double by one rebound. Aaron Gordon contributed 25 points, while Jamal Murray scored 21.

The third quarter saw a tight battle, with the Nuggets slightly outscoring the Clippers 23-22. Despite facing offensive challenges and Jokic’s absence during critical stretches of the fourth quarter, Murray and the Nuggets remained competitive.

Kawhi Leonard’s impressive performance helped the Clippers maintain their lead, but Denver stayed close behind.

Trailing by five late in the fourth quarter, Jokic’s return ignited Denver’s offense. With just 30 seconds remaining and the Nuggets down by one, Westbrook made a vital three-pointer. James Harden quickly responded with a two-pointer, leveling the score at 98 and forcing overtime.

During overtime, Christian Braun hit a crucial three-pointer to give Denver a four-point lead, but Harden countered with his own three, narrowing the gap to one.

Under pressure, Gordon calmly converted two free throws, extending the Nuggets’ lead to three with only 10 seconds left.

Westbrook then caused a turnover on Denver’s inbound play, offering the Clippers a final opportunity. However, Jokic was fouled and successfully made both free throws, securing the hard-fought win for the Nuggets.
