UAE Deputy Prime Minister to Arrive in Islamabad for Bilateral Talks
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad today (Sunday). He will engage in discussions encompassing various facets of the bilateral relationship, notably trade and investment.
During his official visit, spanning April 20 to April 21, Sheikh Abdullah will meet with his counterpart, Ishaq Dar. These discussions will comprehensively address the spectrum of bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the meeting will place specific emphasis on trade, investment, energy cooperation, regional security, and strengthening connections between the people of both countries.
The Foreign Office (FO) conveyed in a statement that “This high-level visit demonstrates the enduring and amicable relations between Pakistan and the UAE. It also highlights the mutual dedication of both nations to enhance bilateral cooperation across all sectors of shared interest.”
This visit also allows both parties to exchange perspectives on regional and global matters of shared importance and concern.
While in Pakistan, the UAE representative will also pay a visit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where both leaders are expected to “reaffirm their mutual vision for peace and affluence in the region”.
MoFA’s statement further noted, “This visit will strengthen the long-standing ties between Pakistan and the UAE and contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, thereby benefiting the populations of both nations.”
Sheikh Abdullah’s visit follows the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan in February. During that visit, the two countries inked five agreements aimed at bolstering bilateral collaboration in various sectors, including banking, railways, mining, and infrastructure investment.
Pakistan and the UAE have a strong history of bilateral relations that extends to numerous fields. A significant number of Pakistanis reside and work in the Gulf country, which has recently enabled Pakistani citizens to secure five-year visas.
